Liza: Good afternoon everyone. Thank you for inviting me here today.

Speaker: Hello everybody and here we are with our weekly programme, Five Minutes with a Star. Today in our studio, we have Ayla Russell, a world-famous singer and songwriter. Her albums have won numerous awards and her songs can be heard on the radio all the time. Good afternoon, Ayla.

Presenter: Hello everyone and welcome to our great Outdoors programme once again. I am happy to present our guest Bob Thomas, the co-owner of a successful family business. Welcome Bob.

Bob: Good afternoon. I am very excited to be here as I listen to your programme every Saturday. It is a privilege for me to be invited.

Presenter: You’ve been collaborating with the same song writers through your entire career. Not many singers can manage that. What’s the secret to maintaining a healthy working relationship over such a long stretch of time?

Paul: Well, in every person’s career, there’s a time when enough is enough. I’ve been acting, both in film and theatre for over three decades. Making ‘Runway’ as my last film marks a full circle for me.

Presenter: Good afternoon dear listeners and welcome to our program. We continue to interview writers for you and today in our studio we have Alyson Gray, a young writer and we are going to discuss her debut novel and the way she started her literary career. Hello Alyson.

Alyson: Good afternoon. Thank you for inviting me here.

Presenter: Today in our studio we are lucky to have Judy White, whose writing has appeared in the New York Times and News Day, and whose plays have been performed in NYC theatres and at major festivals.She has recently published her first novel ‘If I Knew’, which is already a number one bestseller worldwide.

Maggie: When I was nine years old, I started playing the piano. I was obsessed. I needed to play for several hours every day. But I wasn’t great, though I was good and I had tremendous passion. I didn’t have any real technical skill, so no matter how much I practised I was never going to be able to really play in front of people. I had tremendous stage fright. Still, the piano was the beginning of me going, “I need an outlet. I need a vehicle.” And then from music, I joined the drama club in high school. I got on stage and I went, “Oh wow. No stage fright.” I couldn’t do public speaking, and I couldn’t play the piano in front of people, but I could act. I found that being on stage I felt, “This is home.” I felt an immediate right thing, and the exchange between the audience and the actors on stage was so fulfilling. I just went, “That is the conversation I want to have.” It was unequivocal. There was nobody acting in my family, but there didn’t need to be. I just understood what I wanted to do at once.

Presenter: I’m sure our listeners would like to know what you’re working on now.

Brenda: Currently, I am working on The Tom and Jerry Show at Renegade Animation. I am also working on several personal projects, one of which can be found on my website. The Secret Garden is a re-imagining of a story about a self-centred young girl who loses her parents in an unfortunate event. She is then forced to live with her distant uncle, where she soon discovers a secret that has been kept locked away for years.

Interviewer: Today we are happy to have here Vanessa Silver, a famous writer who has won numerous awards for her short fiction. Her novels are described as extraordinary, lyrical, moving, yet funny.

Julia:  Good afternoon. It’s a pleasure being here. Thank you for inviting me. 

Kim: Well, it is great, of course. But I’ve never really been big on all that attention. I simply try to do my job well, and I guess it pays off. But all the noise around my success is not really my cup of tea.

Peter: Well, I didn’t really have a choice whether to play or not since my father is a football coach. High school football was always a part of our family life. All weekends we spent on the field, watching my dad work with teams, play games, win tournaments. When I was old enough, I joined his team as well.

Today in our studio we have John Logan, a world-famous underwater photographer. We all see and admire his photos in National Geographic magazine. He started as a diver when he was a teenager and fell in love with the underwater world. Presenter: Good morning, everyone, and welcome to our daily radio programme, ‘People and Relationships’. Today, we continue to speak about building friendship, and our honoured guest today is Peter Gray, the famous psychologist and blogger. Hello, Peter.

Presenter. Let me remind our listeners of some of the highlights of your career. After making it to the NFL and playing for the New York Giants, Carl Smith made a unique pivot into modeling and acting. Growing up in a tough area of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Carl realized football was a ticket to a better life. But once he attained that freedom, he was able to focus on finding something he truly enjoyed doing. 

Presenter: In your recent book on writing you speak about the so-called punctuation theory of screenwriting. Could you please explain to us what that is?

Alice: Sure. You kind of divide the script into parts. The end of part one ends with a question mark, I mean the major dramatic question or what the protagonist wants has been established. The end of part two ends with an exclamation point, some unexpected or surprising piece of new information that launches the story further. Part three ends with a period which is the resolution or how the major dramatic question has been answered.
