Text A. Hi, everyone! I’d like to give you some advice on our hiking holiday. Tomorrow I’ll be waiting for you at the railway station at 8 a.m. It’s hot, but anyway don’t go with bare legs. Our route goes through bushes and rocky hills. Wear comfortable jeans or sports trousers if you don’t want your legs to be scratched or mosquito bitten. Do not forget water but don’t take much food. We’ll be taking breaks at places equipped with barbeques where we can enjoy baked and grilled food.

Text A. We are happy to say that our sports shop is celebrating the 10^th anniversary of its opening and each customer will get a present today — a sports watch. If you like watersports, camping or cycling, a break-resistant watch is just what you need! If any consultation is needed, apply to our manager from The Tents and Sportswear Department. Text A. Dear guests! We are happy to welcome you to our hotel. This year we’ve got a surprise for you which is going to be particularly interesting for families with children. Now, along with splashing in the pool and seeing the aquarium with tropical fish, our young guests can visit the place where we grow fruit and vegetables for our restaurant. Right behind our building, there’s a territory with a garden and an enclosure with hens, ducks, rabbits and even a couple of goats.

Text A. Dear all, my name’s Linda and I’m going to be your guide on this excursion. There’re twelve people in today’s group. Our driver, Jeff, is in his place too. So, we are ready to go. Before we set off I want to give you these boxes with your lunch. Our excursion lasts four hours. We’ve packed some food for you, so that you won’t feel hungry. I also have to remind you about safety rules. Your bags should be placed on the shelves above your head and your safety belt should be fastened. 

Text A. Attention, please! The fire alarm you’ve just heard was activated by mistake. There’s no danger and there’s no need for evacuation. Please go on with your shopping. At the moment our electronic specialists are testing the fire alarm system to avoid a similar situation in the future. In case any questions arise, turn to our manager in the central lobby on the ground floor of the shopping centre. We apologise for the inconvenience and wish you happy shopping. 

Text A. Attention, please! Passenger Peter Johns, who arrived from New York flight SU101, please, come to the information desk, which is to the right of the check-in area on the ground floor. Your suitcase was collected by another passenger by mistake. Now it has been returned and you can get it. If the luggage is not reclaimed it’ll be transferred to the lost property office. We also ask you not to touch any unattended luggage or lost documents but to contact an airport official. 

Text A. Dear visitors! We’re doing our best to make our park a nice place for everyone. Please, be aware that you can borrow a bike for free. To the right of the main entrance you’ll see a large glass house in which you can find out what life in the tropics feels like. The greenhouse is inhabited by nearly a thousand butterflies, which you can see for only ￡5. Children under sixteen have discounts. Don’t miss a chance to see our free exhibition of retro photos of the city in the central alley. 

Text A. Dear guests! Welcome to the bear area in our zoo. The good news is that a week ago a new baby bear was born. His mum had arrived from a Canadian Zoo and after the quarantine joined our family bears. The quarantine is a necessary procedure in such cases. The baby bear, whose name is Willy, is very cute. Unfortunately, the baby is out of sight now. He’s in the cave with his mum fast asleep. Like all babies Willy sleeps most of the day. 

Text A. Probably, you remember that 7 years ago our entertainment centre was, in fact, an indoor playground for very small kids. By now, those toddlers have turned into teenagers, who still often come to spend their free time with us, enjoying our creative activities. And we are still growing! Starting from now, we are removing any age restrictions in our club as there’s lots of room and entertainment for people of any age and with any interests. There’s also a Bingo and board games club!

Text A. Dear students, our language school offers different activities to make your stay here pleasant and exciting. Unfortunately, the swimming pool cannot be used for two more weeks until the renovation works are completed. However, you may take horse-riding lessons from 3 to 8 p.m. The horses are calm and well-trained. In fact, our horses are often used for the needs of the Children’s Rehabilitation Center as a complement to their gymnastics and swimming activities.

Text A. Dear students! We are very glad that you’ve chosen our summer language school, and we’ll do our best to make your time here pleasant and useful. Apart from English classes, which are held every day of the week, including Saturdays and Sundays, you can join our Spanish club. The Spanish Club welcomes you every Friday from 6 till 9 pm. Everyone can take part in these weekly sessions. Our teachers will arrange the activities in groups of different levels.

Text A. And finally, I would like to tell you about your exam on Monday. It’s going to be a computer-based exam. You’ll be using the computers in our computer room, so do not bring your own ones, you have to leave them on a reception desk anyway. You can keep your mobile phones on you, but remember that you mustn’t use them for any purpose, if you do, your test will not be graded. Nor textbooks, or not textbooks, of course. All you should bring is your student card, a pen, and a bottle of water.

Text A. I’d like to present some really good news. You know that our company has set up a computer club, which is going to be free for anyone who wants to upgrade their computer skills. To make our work effective we hold classes for young people aged 12 to 20 at weekends. Retired people are very welcome from Monday to Friday in the mornings. After them there will be a group for small kids. Schoolchildren, as I’ve already said, come on Saturday and Sunday.

Text A. Dear readers! On the anniversary of our library opening, we would like to ask you to write about what you like and what you, maybe, dislike in our library, what books were a discovery for you, what events like a documentary photo exhibition, meeting with authors were the most exciting? What exhibitions or presentations would you like to visit in our library in the future? Please, write all your ideas in a big library book. Your opinion is very important to us. 

Text A. Today, we’re holding a workshop and you’ll learn some techniques on how to work with paper, fabric, dry flowers and other materials. Of course, you can take on everything you create today. Your craft could make a great gift for a friend. I’m often asked what hobby is the best. I have no answer. For me the best hobby is cooking and I often treat my friends with homemade cakes and lemonades, and one of my friends collects lottery tickets. Hobbies may be different. 

Text A. Wow. There are so many people at our stadium who’ve come to support their football clubs. The players have already changed into their sportswear and the referee has invited them to his area. He probably wants to give them some instructions. Earlier the coaches announced that their players are in perfect health, which was proved by medical testing, and are determined to win. Well, the referee is waiting for the players. We will see them on the pitch any minute.

Text A. Dear friends! The week of documentary films, which we held last month, attracted lots of attention. Today we are starting a new event. And we are happy to see you here at our exhibition of contemporary art. In the week ahead you’re going to enjoy the works of our local artists. Instead of a lottery, this time we’re going to reward all our guests. Next Sunday, on the last day of our exhibition everyone can choose a book on art. Keep your ticket, you can exchange it for a book. 

Text A. It’s nice to see our young artists here. We’re happy that our drawing contest has attracted your attention. According to the rules, each of you needs to take a card from this box. The number on the card refers to the number of your seat. Please, don’t take someone else’s place. As for the theme, the jury has chosen Water In Our Life, which means your pictures need to illustrate the role of water in our life. You can draw your picture with whatever you like: pencils, oils, watercolours. 

Text A. Dear visitors of the park! Right now, we are starting the award ceremony. Our winners, the three best roller skaters, will get their prizes. We also have to inform you that the light show, which had been planned for this evening, is cancelled for technical reasons. As a sort of compensation, tonight, we offer you another exciting show! The best Latino dancers will be competing on our summer stage tonight. A storm of energetic music and colourful costumes — don’t miss it! 

Text A. Dear friends! On Saturday, you’ll have an opportunity to see an authentic village of the 16th century. It’s like an open-air museum: houses of those times, people wearing traditional costumes and performing folk music and dancing. You’ll have the impression you’ve gone into the past in a time machine. This place is often used for making historical films when they shoot the scenes of everyday life in the countryside. The school bus will get us there at 9am and bring us back by 10pm.
