Speaker A. If you ask me, I don’t like shopping. In my opinion, people spend too much time on this activity. Well, shopping for food is necessary, of course, but it takes ages to get to the supermarket, choose the foods you need, pack it, take it back home, and put it all in the fridge and in the freezer. When you shop for clothes, it’s even worse: you may spend the whole day looking for the right thing. Shopping for presents is a nightmare as well. There is more to life than shopping.

Speaker B. Some people think that shopping is a waste of time, but I really love it. For me, shopping is a great way to have my day off. I go to the mall and spend some quality time looking for some new clothes, a new perfume, or a pair of shoes, then go to one of the cafes there to enjoy a cup of coffee and some cake. I may go to the cinema then; there is a good one in the mall. The top floor of the mall is occupied by a gym, so I might go there too and have a yoga class.

Speaker C. Everybody has to go shopping from time to time to buy clothes and other things. Well, I do agree that it can be a nice way to spend your time, but when I go shopping, I usually spend loads of money. When I go on a shopping spree, I buy whatever I find that is suitable. I usually regret it afterwards, as I am a student and I need to be economical. I hate to see that there is almost no money left on my credit card. I don’t know why I do what I do. I promised myself not to do it again, but… in vain.

Speaker D. I don’t like to go shopping because there are usually crowds of people in shopping malls and supermarkets. There are long queues everywhere – fitting rooms, checkout tills. People often come to a shopping mall just to spend their weekends; they browse through things, but they are not really going to buy anything. Such people are a great problem for those ones who need to buy something and leave, for they cannot because of the crowds. That is why I dislike shopping.

Speaker E. For some people, shopping is a very stressful activity, but I love shopping; it gives me rest, really. I can spend some hours looking for something; it can be a new dress, a mug with a funny picture, or a coloring book. It does not really matter what I am shopping for; the very process of looking for something I might like is very enjoyable for me. When I come back from a shopping mall, I usually feel relaxed and happy. That is why I usually shop at the weekend.

Speaker F. One of the reasons why I like shopping is because it helps me spend time with my loved ones. I know I am not the only one who struggles to find some quality time to spend with their friends or family; I bet you can relate. Everyone has different schedules, and we don’t always have the free time to have conversations with the people we love. Spending a chill day with your mom or a friend shopping at the mall is a really great way to bond, in my opinion.
