Imagine that you are doing a project on why Zetlanders buy new clothes. You have found some data on the subject — the results of the opinion polls (see the table below). Comment on the data in the table and give your opinion on the subject of the project.
The survey question: Why do you buy new clothes?

Write 200–250 words.
Use the following plan:
- make an opening statement on the subject of the project;
- select and report 2–3 facts;
- make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments;
- outline a problem that can arise with following fashion and suggest a way of solving it;
- conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on whether it is important for young people to follow fashion.

The project I am currently working on is aimed at finding out why Zetlanders buy new clothes. I have found a table with the results of a survey. I am going to comment on the survey and give my opinion on the subject of the project.
According to the table answering the question «why do you buy new clothes?», as many as 31% of the respondents buy new clothes to keep up with the fashion. While a total of 7% of Zetlanders intend to enrich their wardrobe. A small minority of those surveyed want to improve their mood by buying new items.
It is clear from the table that the number of the interviewees who purchase new clothes to replace old ones is significantly higher than the figure for those who give clothes as a present. (40% and 16% respectively). This is not surprising, as nobody wants to wear old and torn clothes while giving clothes as a present may be not a good idea as you may be wrong with a size or color.
Regrettably, some problems may arise with following fashion.
One of them is pollution. People start buying a lot of trendy items and throw away their old clothes which has a disastrous impact on ecology. To solve this problem people may swap their clothes with friends or relatives to follow fashion and not to harm the environment.
In conclusion, I do not think it is important for young people to follow fashion. Being yourself is more important than being trendy.
